Presentations

DAC produces multi-media educational presentations aimed at school groups and classes. These events  are customizable depending on age or school grade, group size and desired curriculum content, and include video, slide shows, live performance and musical mini-workshops.

Our school workshops complement the Ontario's public school curriculum by utilizing alternative learning methods to reinforce lessons in bullying prevention, anti-racism, equity and teamwork. Using samba drumming as a learning tool, we can also support teachers by integrating music and art into their classroom in a wide variety of ways; from assisting in teaching music theory concepts, exploring the history and geography of South America to fostering a more positive group or classroom dynamic.

Some topics include:

  • The history of Samba music
  • Brazil and Carnaval
  • Afro-Brazilian music and the African roots of rhythm

A typical presentation may consist of a 20 minute educational presentation followed by 40 minutes of hands-on drumming and group participation.
